But first, let’s talk about our stay at the Hilton Rome Airport Hotel and how we transferred to the Civitavecchia Port.

Staying at the Hilton Rome Airport Hotel

After a long flight to Rome, we were delighted to relax and unwind at the Hilton Rome Airport Hotel. The hotel offers comfortable accommodations, friendly staff, and convenient access to the airport. We enjoyed a delicious evening meal at the hotel, and I even gave you a room tour of a standard king room in the vlog. It was the perfect way to recharge before our exciting cruise adventure.

Transferring to Civitavecchia Port

To reach the Civitavecchia Port, we utilized the Disney Cruise Line transfer service. This service is a convenient and hassle-free way to travel from the airport to the port. We recommend booking this service in advance with your cruise reservation number. Once at the airport, we followed the clear instructions provided, and it was smooth sailing from there. It’s worth noting that there is no specific time for the transfer, but it’s recommended to arrive with plenty of time to make it to the ship, ideally by 12:45pm.

Check-in at Civitavecchia Port

Upon arriving at the Civitavecchia Port, we were greeted by the excitement of embarkation day. The check-in process was efficient and well-organized. We swiftly went through security and proceeded to the check-in counter. We were met with friendly Disney Cast Members who assisted us with the check-in process. It’s always a joy to see the smiling faces of the Disney crew, as they truly set the tone for a magical journey ahead.

Onboard Experiences and Dining Options

Once we stepped onboard the Disney Dream ship, we were blown away by the sheer size and beauty of the vessel. There are so many incredible experiences and dining options available, catering to every taste and preference. From upscale dining at Palo and Remy to family-friendly restaurants like Animator’s Palate, the culinary offerings are top-notch. We had the opportunity to enjoy a delicious lunch at Animator’s Palate, although the menu is more limited for lunch compared to dinner. But no matter where you choose to dine, you can expect exceptional service and delectable cuisine throughout your cruise experience.

Wi-Fi Costs and Packages

We’re setting sail on the Disney Dream for its inaugural European route. Previously, the Disney Dream was based in Port Canaveral for short Bahamas sailings. Now, it has taken over the Disney Magic’s normal schedule and will be cruising around the Mediterranean, UK, and northern Europe for summer 2023 and summer 2024. The theme of this vlog series is “can adults have the best time ever on a Disney Cruise without kids?” And the answer is a resounding yes!

In this vlog, we’ll take you through our travel and embarkation day with Disney Cruise Line. Jen and I stayed at the Hilton Rome Airport hotel before the cruise. We enjoyed an evening meal at the hotel, and I give you a tour of a standard king room. During this cruise, we’ll be making stops in Greece and Italy, with ports of call in Naples, Mykonos, Santorini, and Chania (Crete). We have an exciting excursion planned for Pompeii, as well as Remy Brunch, Palo Brunch, and Palo Dinner. I’ll also be reviewing a full spa day onboard, experiencing three different Senses Spa services.

To reach the port closest to Rome, we utilize the Disney Cruise Line transfer service. You can book this in advance over the phone with your cruise reservation number. We show you where to go in Rome Airport for boarding your transfer. It’s worth noting that there is no specific time, but it’s recommended to arrive early to ensure you make it to the ship, ideally by 12:45pm. Once we arrive at the Civitavecchia port, we give you a glimpse of the check-in experience and what the cruise terminal looks like.

Once onboard the ship, we visit the Senses Spa to purchase the Rainforest Room pass for the duration of the voyage. Then, we head to Animator’s Palate for a sit-down lunch before checking out my Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah. I give you a tour of the typical Disney Cruise Line stateroom setup and show you the new Silver 25th Anniversary Castaway Club goodies. We then attend the Muster Drill and join the Sail Away party on deck 11. Minnie Mouse, Mickey Mouse, Chip, Dale, Daisy, Donald Duck, Pluto, and Goofy entertain us with singing and dancing as we embark on our cruise around the Greek Isles and Italy.

In this vlog, I also provide information on the cost of wifi and the available packages. I order the water package to see if it’s worth the money and discuss how it enhances the trip. Our evening meal takes place at Royal Palace, and we enjoy a pre-dinner cocktail at the Skyline Lounge. I explain VAT onboard an EU sailing and share fun facts and pro tips throughout the vlog.
